To ensure age-appropriate challenges, we’ve divided IWP JR into three categories:
Primary Division: Grades 2-5
Middle Division: Grades 6-9
Senior Division: Grades 10-12
This structure ensures fair competition within each group, creating a platform that respects each child’s developmental stage and supports their journey as budding writers.

At India Writing Project Junior (IWP JR), we believe in keeping the communication lines clear and open. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions to help you navigate your child’s journey with us.
IWP JR is open to all children in the grades 2-12. We have categorized participants into three age groups for fairness and to ensure that they compete with peers of similar ages and abilities.
Your child can submit any type of writing—be it stories, poems, essays, or something else entirely. They’re free to explore any theme or topic that sparks their imagination!
You can register your child through our online portal. Choose your preferred entry package: Single Entry, Double Entry, or Triple Entry, based on the number of submissions your child wishes to make.
Entries will be evaluated on various factors including clarity, consistency, subject relevance, style of narration, creativity, and more. Our aim is to provide a fair and unbiased judgment for all participants.
For each age category, we have exciting cash prizes for the top three winners:
- 1st Prize: INR 20,000
- 2nd Prize: INR 10,000
- 3rd Prize: INR 5,000
Yes, each entry should have a minimum of 50 words and a maximum of 1500 words. This word limit allows participants to express their thoughts effectively while ensuring a fair evaluation process.
We highly value originality and creativity. If an entry is found to be plagiarized, it will be disqualified immediately. We encourage participants to submit their own work and showcase their unique writing skills.
